Blankingship & Keith Secures $5.4 Million Settlement in Wrongful Death Case Following High-Speed Crash
Attorneys Peter S. Everett, Chidi I. James, Amy Bradley, Barkley Horn, and Aimee Solano of Blankingship & Keith, P.C. secured a $5.4 million settlement on behalf of the family of a remarkable husband and father killed in a high-speed motor vehicle crash in Loudoun County, Virginia.
The tragedy occurred on October 25, 2023, when an employee of a large corporation, driving a rented Dodge Challenger at speeds exceeding 114 mph, ran multiple red lights before colliding with a Washington Flyer taxi minivan. The client’s father, a passenger returning home to his wife of 43 years, was killed instantly.
The decedent, a Senior Vice President of Sales at a national finance company, left behind his wife, two adult children, and young grandchildren. He had recently relocated to Loudoun County to be near family. In recognition of his lifelong support for soccer and his son’s collegiate career at James Madison University, the family dedicated $50,000 of the settlement to establish a scholarship fund for JMU soccer players.
“This case focused on honoring the life of a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose loss left an irreplaceable void,” said partner Peter S. Everett. “We are thrilled to have secured justice and financial security for the family, while also helping preserve his legacy through a scholarship that will benefit young athletes for years to come.”
Retired Judge Johanna Fitzpatrick mediated the case.
