Ishuanette Espinosa Lopez focuses her practice on civil litigation and family law, bringing a strong background in federal, state, and administrative legal practice to her representation of clients.
Prior to joining Blankingship & Keith, Ms. Espinosa Lopez gained wide-ranging experience across government, private practice, and the courts. She served as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable Vijay Shanker at the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, where she drafted memoranda and researched legal issues in both civil and criminal cases. While at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Hearings and Appeals, she researched and drafted opinions in personnel security and whistleblower cases. Most recently, she has been serving as a Volunteer Law Clerk in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Environment and Natural Resources Division, Land Acquisition Section.
During law school, Ms. Espinosa Lopez also represented clients as a Student Attorney in Georgetown’s Domestic Violence Clinic, where she handled all phases of litigation for petitioners in protection order cases before the D.C. Superior Court.
Ms. Espinosa Lopez earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center (2025), where she served as Website & Communications Editor of the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics. She was also active in the Latin American Law Students Association, serving as Alumni Chair, and mentoring peers through the RISE program.
She received her B.A. in History and Legal Studies, summa cum laude, and her A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies, summa cum laude, from the University of Alaska Anchorage, where she was honored with the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Appreciation Award and Department Honors in History.
