Summer Associate Program

Blankingship & Keith maintains an active summer associate program that is designed to offer our recruits a realistic look at the practice of law at Blankingship & Keith through a variety of experiences. Summer associates work with multiple practice groups to try new areas of the law and to ensure that the summer associate has the opportunity to make informed decisions regarding a long-term career path, particularly a career with our firm. For those summer associates interested in litigation and who have obtained a third year practice certificate, we look for opportunities for the summer associate to appear in court to argue motions and to participate in our pro bono project through Legal Services of Northern Virginia, which involves obtaining protective orders in domestic abuse cases.

As with any summer program, a summer associate can expect to conduct legal research in a number of practice areas and to produce substantive legal work product. We also encourage our summer associates to experience the practical aspects of our practice and we actively look for opportunities for recruits to shadow lawyers to observe interesting oral arguments and to attend client meetings, depositions, mediations, and trials. Our aspirational goal is to have each summer associate work in some fashion with all of the lawyers in firm.

Blankingship & Keith is a full service law firm serving corporations, small businesses, and individuals in the areas of civil litigation, personal injury, real estate, employment, family law, education law, business, trusts & estates, and tax.
