The opinion affirms a circuit court's ruling in favor of our client, a law firm, in its claim for legal fees.
The appellant attempted to void an arbitration award and judgment obtained by our client by arguing that our client's temporary administrative cancellation as a PLLC invalidated those proceedings. The Virginia Court of Appeals rejected this argument, holding that due to our client's successful reinstatement with the State Corporation Commission, Code §§ 13.1-1050.4 and -1050.5 operated to retroactively validate all actions taken during the cancellation period, and our client maintained standing to pursue its pre-existing claims for legal fees. The Court of Appeals also awarded our client its appellate attorney fees and costs.
