Blankingship & Keith Proudly Introduces Laurie Kirkland as Managing Partner
Blankingship & Keith is pleased to announce the election of Laurie Kirkland as the firm's new Managing Partner, effective January 1, 2024. Laurie brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, with a focus on civil litigation, particularly in employment law, commercial litigation, and complex business litigation.
Laurie has a distinguished track record of representing both corporate and individual clients in various legal proceedings. Her practice extends to state courts in Northern Virginia, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Additionally, Laurie has represented employers before the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and routinely provides advice on employment matters to corporate clients.
Beyond her civil litigation and employment law practice, Laurie is deeply involved in cases related to petitions for the appointment of guardians and conservators for incapacitated adults. Notably, she dedicates her time and expertise to assisting Legal Services of Northern Virginia on a pro bono basis.
Active in professional associations, Laurie is a prominent figure in the Fairfax Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association, and the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. She served on the Young Lawyers Section's Board of Directors of the Fairfax Bar Association for five years, holding positions such as Secretary and President.
Laurie has earned recognition for her legal acumen, being named a "Legal Elite" by Virginia Business Magazine and honored as a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers Magazine.
