AdamSmith-hs-lrAdam W. Smith has joined the firm of Blankingship & Keith, P.C. as a principal in the firm’s Civil Litigation, Medical Malpractice, and Personal Injury practice groups.

“Blankingship & Keith is always looking to expand its already impressive roster of talented, hardworking, diligent, and energetic attorneys. Adam will enhance our firm’s litigation capabilities and allows us to continue to provide our clients with the top-level service they’ve come to expect,” said William B. Porter, Blankingship & Keith’s managing principal.

Smith has an active civil litigation and trial practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia, presently concentrated on tort, wrongful death, and bodily injury litigation, and the defense of medical and dental malpractice claims. He has extensive experience in representing physicians and hospitals in the defense of medical malpractice and general tort liability claims.

He has written and argued several appellate briefs to the Supreme Court of Virginia and to the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and he has been the principal attorney on a number of reported state and federal decisions.

Smith graduated from the Ohio State University with honors in 1986, and received his law degree from Ohio Northern University with high distinction in 1989. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and Washington, D.C., as well as admitted to the bars of the Supreme Court of Ohio, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and District of Columbia Circuit, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. District Courts of the District of Columbia, and the Eastern District of Virginia.

The addition of Smith is part of the firm’s vision and growth strategy. Last year, Blankingship & Keith welcomed nine new attorneys to the firm, strengthening several practice groups, including family law and personal injury.
