Adam W. Smith
Adam W. Smith is a Principal at Blankingship & Keith, P.C., where he returns as a member of the firm’s Medical Malpractice Defense Practice Group. Since 1995, Adam has maintained an active civil litigation and trial practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia, with a focus on defending hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers in medical malpractice and related matters.
Before rejoining Blankingship & Keith in 2026, Adam practiced medical malpractice defense law with Jackson & Campbell, PC. He previously practiced with Blankingship & Keith from 2018 to 2023 and with McCandlish & Lillard earlier in his career.
Adam has written and argued appeals before the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Virginia, and has served as principal counsel in a number of reported state and federal decisions. He is an active member and past President of the D.C. Defense Lawyers’ Association and a frequent speaker at its events.
