Bill Casterline's practice focuses on commercial real estate, creditors' rights and business law and consulting,. His clients include companies of all sizes, banks and other lending institutions, and individuals and companies who own, buy, sell, or lease real estate.
For over twenty five years, Bill's practice has included commercial real estate. He has represented buyers and sellers, landlords and tenants, and lenders. He represents commercial landlords in both leasing matters and collections including landlord's liens and representing landlords in bankruptcies filed by tenants.
Bill's creditors' rights practice includes residential and commercial foreclosures, workouts, bankruptcy and litigation throughout Virginia. He has developed two specialized niches. First as a substitute trustee on large, complicated commercial foreclosures. He has foreclosed virtually every type of commercial property from office buildings, shopping centers, stores and restaurants to partially completed subdivisions. Bill's second niche is as an expert witness in litigation involving foreclosures and trustee duties.
Bill's business owner clients consider him to be an integral part of the business' management team. Bill contributes to all aspects of his client's business including entity formation, operations, financing, employment, collections, contracts, defenses of outside claims, and strategic planning. Bill has incorporated numerous companies and serves as their registered agent. Bill also has handled the purchases and sales of businesses.
Bill also has lectured on foreclosure and bankruptcy issues to other attorneys for continuing legal education credit, and to lenders' foreclosure and bankruptcy departments. Since 1993 he has been a lecturer for Virginia CLE. He was chosen by Virginia CLE to be the editor of Virginia Foreclosures Practice, a comprehensive handbook on Virginia creditors' rights law and practice (including bankruptcy and other non-foreclosure creditor enforcement methods) published in 1999. Bill's bankruptcy practice focuses on relief from stay motions, objections to chapter 11 and chapter 13 plans, dischargeability complaints, landlord protections, and other creditor motions. Bill does not represent debtors.
